A Day in the Life of a Controller:
Compensation: $135,000.00 - $165,000.00 annually

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Controller is responsible for supervising and coordinating the accounting and reporting activities for Sonsray’s Construction and Agriculture-related equipment distributors.   

  • Supervises staff ensuring expectations are established to provide accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Supervises the month-end close process; approves manual journal entries and ensures appropriate support is maintained.
  • Ensures staff has completed all journal entries, reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, and reviews variances related to general ledger accounts.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency, creating and modifying procedures and workflow.
  • Ensures the accuracy of accruals and all related journals are reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Reviews items in books of original entry to determine if accepted accounting procedures are followed.
  • Reconciles and balances all payable accounts between their vendor provided schedules and the balance sheet.  Must be accurate at the detailed equipment level.
  • Manages all equipment settlements with vendors  Keeps track of all sold but unpaid equipment for timely settlement and ongoing management review regarding the company’s 7-day settlement deadline.  Understands how this will impact cash flow on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensures accuracy of settlement posting in the ERP system and in OEM portals.
  • Leads the financial and equipment audit response team, providing timely, accurate, and detailed responses to auditor requests.  
  • Assists with reporting needs for monthly borrowing base certificates.
  • Handles daily requests for system/equipment updates.
  • Manages/corrects integration errors to ensure proper and timely posting of all transactions to the GL. 
  • Prepares reports of findings and recommendations for management.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting – CPA is a plus, but not required. 
  • Minimum of seven to ten plus (7-10+) years’ experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Equipment sales, rental, or dealership experience is a plus.
  • High-end ERP experience required, e.g., Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar.
  • Advanced MS Excel and spreadsheet skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
