Redesigned from the ground up, Cat’s next-generation skid steer loader lineup boasts more lift height, tilt and lift breakout forces, rated operating capacities, torque and comfort over the D3 series.
The lineup includes the 250, 260, 270 and 270 XE. The 250 replaces the 242D3; the 260 replaces the 246D3 and 262D3; the 270 replaces the 272D3, and the 270XE replaces the 272D3 XE.
Shown in the walkaround video above is the 270 XE, which Cat product consultant Morgan Timiney calls “the highest performing machine in the skid steer product line from an auxiliary hydraulic perspective.”
Meeting Tier 4 Final emissions standards, the 250 and 260 SSLs are powered by the Cat C2.8T, and the 270 and 270 XE by the Cat 3.6TA.
All Cat Smart Attachments can be operated with the standard hydraulics provided. By switching on the new software-enabled attachment, additional hydraulic flow – up to 30 gallons per minute – can be remotely activated on the “High Flow ready” 250, 260 and 270 models. The available High Flow option for 270 XE increases auxiliary hydraulic system pressure to 4,496 psi and hydraulic flow to 40 gallons per minute.

All next-generation Cat SSLs and CTLs feature a larger cab with a standard 5-inch LCD monitor or 8-inch advanced touchscreen monitor, depending on the technology package selected. New advanced joysticks enable integrated control of the advanced touchscreen monitor. This means all machine function control and adjustments can be made without the operator removing their hands from the controls.
Other features include more head, hip and foot room, a new HVAC system, Bluetooth connectivity, larger windows, a lower point of entry and a range of new mechanical and air-ride suspension seat options.
In addition to the skid steer loaders, Cat also introduced a redesigned lineup of compact track loaders. Models include the 255, 265, 275, 275 XE, 285 and 285 XE. To get a closer look at these models, check out Equipment World’s previous videos:
