Generator Road Service Mechanic

New York City Territory



Pay: $47.46 - $60.19/hour

Key qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years’ experience in Electric Power Generation, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment, (generator, ATS, switchgear), AC and DC, and diesel engines required

   Advanced Electrical troubleshooting skills, breaker testing, paralleling generators, medium/high voltage, transformers, thermal scan (IR Scan) preferred

   Clean and valid driver’s license required (this is a road/field service position)

   Must be computer proficient to be able to run diagnostic software and prepare service communications

   Must have strong communication and self-management skills

   Must be open to working overtime, including evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed

   OSHA-30 Card (preferred)


Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Generator Assistant Service Manager, the Generator Road Service Mechanic is responsible for the following tasks:

 Troubleshoot electrical & mechanical problems

   Efficiently utilize resources to correct problems & document steps taken

   Plan proper repair procedures for efficiency

   Efficiently utilize tooling and technical resources

   Effectively communicate status of repair work with supervisor

   Represent the company in a positive, professional manner

   Communicate customers’ options to correct current problems

   Advise customer of cost of repair and collect payment as required

   Complete/attend all safety meetings, computer-based trainings, audits, and other trainings as assigned

   Work in a proactive, safe manner in compliance with all safety protocols & training

   Immediately resolve and/or report all safety issues to supervisor

   Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with all Contamination Control Initiatives

Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

   Standing and walking

   Lifting (up to 60lbs.)

   Carrying (up to 50lbs.)

   Push/pull (up to 80lbs.)

   Sitting, rotation and forward bending (sitting and standing)

   Hand coordination and reaching

   Grip (30lbs. with both hands, 80lbs. with preferred/single hand)

   Foot pedal operation

   Climbing stairs and ladders

   Crawling, low work (kneeling), and awkward positioning

   Outdoor work (as required)

   Wearing 10-20lbs. of protective clothing, including fire resistant clothing, welding helmet/shield, & ANSI-rated protective footwear (as required)
