OVER 90 YEARS OF SPECIALIZED SERVICE
Guy M. Turner’s rich history began in 1924, when two brothers from Covington, VA. decided to form a trucking outfit. Over the next few decades, the company thrived, eventually adding rigging to its list of services.
The company was active throughout WW2, shipping military equipment to where it was most needed. After the war, it played a role in the Marshall Plan, the U.S. initiative to rebuild Western Europe, by shipping textile machinery to the area.
In 1984, Guy M. Turner was purchased by its current owner, Jimmy Clark. At the time of purchase, it consisted of about four cranes, two trucks, and five rigging crews. In the decades since, Clark and his team have dramatically revolutionized the company both in terms of its services and equipment.
The company headquarters was moved to Greensboro, NC., and its services were expanded to include plant relocation, heavy and specialized hauling, heavy lifting, rigging and millwright services, crane services, and more.
In 2000, the company headquarters was moved to a 50,000-square foot facility spanning over 25 acres, in order to accommodate an ever-expanding arsenal of cranes, multiple-axle rigs, and heavy equipment.
Today, we are proud to be the industry leader in the crane, rigging, and heavy transportation space. Our name alone attracts some of the most qualified professionals in the industry, many of whom go on to spend the rest of their careers with us. And with over 100 years of industry experience, we are able to offer our clients a rich legacy of specialized services they are unlikely to find anywhere else.
