Overview

The Certified Dealer Instructor (CDI) will be operating in a team environment. This position is responsible for training customers and Altorfer Sales personnel on the proper use of CAT machines. This uniquely qualified candidate will have the ability to interact directly with equipment operators, supporting our sales efforts and promoting CAT machine sales from Altorfer CAT.

Basic Duties

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to): 

  • Required to attend Caterpillar Certified Training as needed. 
  • Assist Sales People with machine delivery and equipment overview, identifying grease points, service intervals, monitor functions and use, fluid and maintenance check points and operational controls.
  • CDI must be able to conduct task training and safety training as needed by customers or indicated by management.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

College degree in business or a mechanical related discipline; or a high school graduate with at least four years parts or service-related work.  10 years operator experience preferred.  This person will NOT operate equipment and does not need to operate equipment to perform this job.  However, past operating experience will help the successful candidate relate to customer operators. This is a sales support position, union and non-union candidates are welcome to apply. 

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Teaching Skills: this is the primary function of this position.   The CDI must effectively present training material to heavy equipment operators so they understand the machine's capabilities and can utilize it to its full potential.
  • Time Management skills necessary to manage logistics and delivery of new machines to customers.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Be able to establish good, professional relationships.
  • Computer knowledge including: office software, MS Excel and Outlook E-mail.
