Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:   The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the planning, implementation and administration of various employee benefit programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness, market competitiveness and consistency.  Coordinates the administration of all company benefits programs including medical, dental, group life insurance, retirement and other benefits plans.

 

Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Serves as point of contact for all employee benefit programs, including health & welfare and retirement plans; assesses effectiveness of programs in meeting overall needs of employees, and coordinates the development and implementation of changes and improvements to benefit programs as appropriate.2. Interfaces with vendors, benefit providers, legal and actuarial consultants, fund custodians, etc.3. Consults with and advises employees on their eligibility for benefits.  Responsible for enrolling and termination from/into appropriate benefit plans, 4. Assists in the development of benefits proposals, negotiations with insurance carriers and external contractors, and administration of contracts or other agreements involving employee benefits.5. Participates in negotiations with insurance carriers and contractors, and assists with administration of contracts or other agreements involving employee benefits.6. Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.7. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees. Creates ad hoc reports as needed.8. Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.9. Provides prompt customer service to employees and outside inquires relative to the company benefit programs.10. Develops, updates and/or presents various communications (such as announcements, newsletter articles, materials for meetings, plan descriptions, benefit statements, etc.)11. Responds to and resolves employee concerns effectively regarding company benefit programs, by working with appropriate plan administrators and carriers as required.12. Ensures that development and execution of administrative policies governing employee benefits are in compliance with all state and federal regulations.13. Processes all documents necessary for implementation of various benefit programs and maintenance of such records as required for compliance with ERISA, COBRA and other applicable regulations.14. Administers Leaves of Absence in compliance with company policies and procedures15. Processes and reconciles all invoices for payment in a timely manner.16. Works with the HR team on various projects and initiatives.17. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of Benefits experience.2. Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, and Social Security and DOL requirements3. Human Resources Certification a plus.4. Strong Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.5. KRONOS HRIS experience preferred.6. Must have a valid California Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.7. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.8. Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.9. Must have excellent problem solving skills.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Walking and moving about on foot often up and down stairs.2. Handling:  Seizes, helps or works with hands.3. Travel:  Will travel on occasion.4. Lifting:  Raises or lowers miscellaneous paperwork.5. Reaching:  Extends hands and arms in any direction.6. Stooping:  Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.7. Standing:  Remains in standing position, if required to perform various functions of the job.8. Vision:  Read paperwork, employment files and records on the computer.9. Talking:  Communications by phone and in person.10. Sitting:  Sits at desk.  Sits for long periods of time.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL:?

1. Noise:    Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.2. Temp/Weather:  Works in an office environment.
