Job Description


As part of the LiftOne division at CTE, the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager (FP&A) serves as the trusted business advisor to the three Region Vice Presidents (RVP) and their direct reports.  This role supports the establishment and achievement of key business objectives, including the development of action planning to support the objectives.  The role will be navigating in a matrix environment.  The role will interface with multiple levels of the organization and will be key to connecting region operations with Corporate initiatives.  Also, this role will be heavily supported by peer FP&A professionals, who are driving Corporate strategies, productivity, pricing, asset optimization, and more.  With many sources of input, this role will need to question assumptions and challenge the status quo to strive for the best outcomes.  The role will ensure that company assets are protected and financial resources are optimally deployed.  Additionally, this role serves to identify operational drivers that impact results by analyzing data and converting it into meaningful KPI's and actionable business intelligence.  Recommendations should support continuous improvement. 

The FP&A role is the bridge between operations and sources of capital serving to link these two critical areas. They must use their "voice" to understand the details of the business and help to drive the business to its highest performance.

While other duties may be assigned, essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

 Business Advisory Services

  • Partners with RVPs and their Direct Reports to profitably grow the business and meet strategic goals
  • Calculates KPI's (operational and financial), prepares performance dashboards, interprets and presents results, and assists in developing plans to address high priority opportunities
  • Meets regularly to review monthly financial performance with region and branch leadership, identifies trends and offers advice (e.g. pricing opportunities, changing vendors, etc.) to manage profitability
  • Evaluates alternative uses of capital to ensure that projects are expected to return in excess of weighted average cost of capital and/or are supported by a sound business case, including modeling for rental fleet additions and learning from "wash out" analysis
  • Leads effort to develop greater financial acumen in business, such as coaching the Regions on financial matters and identifying training opportunities, with the goal of having employees perform at their highest level
  • Ensures delivery of Plan goals, identifies risk areas, and proposes solutions to mitigate risks or drive delivery ahead of Plan
  • Assists in change management and supports RVPs in driving key business initiatives down into the region with the goal of continuous improvement

Financial / Compliance

  • Ensures that internal controls are in place, functioning properly, and sufficient to protect company assets and the credibility of the financial results
  • Assists region management in the annual budget process and ensures financials are accurate and reflect key assumptions and initiatives
  • Administrate headcount planning and compliance
  • Prepares periodic forecasts for regions and branches
  • Facilitates monthly commissions, working closely with Sales Leadership
  • Participates in the month- and year-end close process by reviewing branch / region financial statements noting anomalies for research/correction and identifies missing expenses requiring an accrual
  • Provides analysis of monthly budget variances and identifies those that will be ongoing or changes to expense run-rates
  • Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested by leadership

Process Improvement

  • Works with operations to identify opportunity areas
  • Assists in the implementation of new processes, works with training staff to document and train impacted individuals, and monitors acceptance / performance of these new processes

Basic Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years experience in Finance/Accounting roles
  • Self-starter and self-finisher with high energy level; highly organized
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience presenting to management
  • Good data mining and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand/interpret complex data and communicate it in a simple way across functional groups
  • Experience with ERP systems, data warehouses, and financial management software
  • Highly proficient using Microsoft Excel and comfort with the remaining Office suite (Word / PowerPoint primarily)
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time, mostly day trips, limited overnight

Additional Candidate Qualifications:

  • MBA degree is preferred
  • FP&A experience desired and should include designing and building complex financial models to enable robust detailed forecasting & annual budget modeling, capex modeling and financial statement analytics
  • Experience working with a larger company that has multiple divisions (private or public)
  • Demonstrated champion of process improvement, preferably with processes/approaches used in lean manufacturing
  • Certificates, licenses, registrations: advanced business and/or financial certifications a plus (e.g. CPA, CMA, CIA, CGMA, CPM, etc.)
  • SAP, IBM Planning Analytics, Tableau/Power BI experience a plus
