Under general supervision, the Parts Counter will help customers solve parts problems in person or by telephone, identify proper parts numbers, check availability, recommend and sell parts as a service and as requested by customer. This position will complete parts order forms, enter related information into the Data Processing system with the understanding that service and satisfaction are top priority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet customers and determine needs
- Edit customers’ orders
- Expedite backorders with branches and manufacturers
- Advise customers of order status at all times
- Assist warehouse and shop parts as required
- Maintain parts counter library
- Participate in factory training
- Assist clerk with reconciling purchase order number to invoices
- Display working knowledge of authorized password options
- Contribute at monthly parts meetings
- Perform all other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to prioritize work day to meet customers’ needs
Possess excellent organization skills
Ability to help other areas and be a team player to contribute to the overall goal
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience working with vehicles or heavy equipment desired
Familiar with parts terminology
Previous automotive/heavy equipment background a plus
Automotive, parts and/or equipment knowledge a plus
Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems desired
Successfully completed warehouse and shop parts training or possesses the equivalent experience
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to read and follow written instructions
Strong verbal communication skills
Customer Service oriented
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic computer and data entry skills required
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to establish credibility quickly. Must be decisive and able to recognize and support the organization's goals and priorities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this position the employee may be required to lift/carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds frequently and 21-50 pounds occasionally. This position requires the ability to demonstrate full range of motion for bending, pulling, reaching, stooping and climbing frequently. In addition, this position requires the use and operation of a fork lift as needed to pick and pack parts

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This position is classified as full-time, hourly non-exempt.
Normal Days of Work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am through 5:30 pm
(Hours may vary depending on business needs or by branch location)
Must be flexible and available to work overtime as necessary
