Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Field Technician in Elkridge, Maryland. The Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Field Technician is responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing EPG rental equipment for power, temperature control, air, pumps and used equipment, at a Carter or customer facility, by performing the following duties. Seeking candidates with Previous experience with UPS and parallels, diagnosing and troubleshooting engine failures and performing mechanical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment; High school diploma or GED required.
Requirements for the EPG Rental Field Technician include:
- Self-starter able to work independently in the field as needed to support all Power Systems rental equipment.
- Must have a thorough understanding of Gensets, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps.
- Must be able to perform product improvement plans on Gensets, air compressors, fuel tanks, pups, UPS and paralleling.
- Must be able to work independently in the field as needed to support all PSD rental equipment.
- Must have advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Must work well in a team environment.
- Must be a strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
- Be available for after-hours emergency service requests for customers. 24/7/365.
- Must be able to work additional hours as required and travel out of town, including out of the country to meet customers’ demands.
- Experience in the use and application of electronic software.
- Excellent driving record required with the ability to obtain a CDL and/or DOT certification.

Physical requirements must be met for the EPG Rental Field Technician job, including the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 70 pounds, including bulky objects. This position requires repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dampness and humidity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Starting Compensation Range: $29.26 – $41.95 per hour
Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location, and other business needs. In addition to base pay, total compensation may include participation in performance-based incentive programs, such as discretionary or non-discretionary plans.
