Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring an Equipment Coordinator in District Heights, Maryland. The Equipment Coordinator is responsible for loading, unloading, receiving/releasing all rental equipment and attachments, (new or used sales and service machines as well in co-locations) as well as maintaining the rental yard for easy access; directing the delivery of new equipment, returns. Seeking candidates with Previous experience operating construction equipment; Previous experience operating forklift.
Requirements for the Equipment Coordinator position include:
- Deliver outstanding customer service to internal and external customers in the equipment yard and shipping and receiving areas.

- Direct delivery of new equipment, returns, and service work to the yard.
- Conduct basic machine operations demonstrations and operate equipment as needed for safe loading/unloading.
- Must be able to operate fork lift.
- Must possess ability to execute loading or unloading of equipment on a transportation truck without prior approval and on-site supervision in process.
- Complete accurate receiving/releasing reports and shipping/receiving documents on all equipment.
- Ensure required paperwork is signed and delivered to supervisor after each delivery.
- Conduct machine inspections and report conditions of equipment before and after customer utilization.
- As needed, back-up Rental Technicians by pressure washing and cleaning equipment, including detailing interior and exterior of machines; inspect rented machines/equipment returned by customers and assist mechanics and drivers as needed.
- Deliver parts, and other similar items to Carter facilities and customer sites as required.
- Maintain accurate physical inventory of equipment and attachments to ensure proper counts and inventory reconciliation and discrepancies. Notify supervisor of any discrepancies. Resolve as needed. Assist with inventory related questions across the store team.
- Perform yard/grounds maintenance as required by the Rental Branch Manager or Rental Supervisor. Keep all new and used machines stored in designated areas.
- Keep facility grounds organized and clean.
- Grade parking lots as needed.
- Remove snow from parking lots as needed.
- Clean wash rack mud sump as needed.
- Keep concrete and pavement areas free of dirt.
- Maintain service and safety records for cranes, sweepers, and forklifts.
- Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical requirements must be met for the Equipment Coordinator job, including the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 50 pounds, including bulky objects. This position requires repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of heavy equipment. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dampness and humidity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Starting Compensation Range: $25.38 – $31.36 per hour
Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location, and other business needs. In addition to base pay, total compensation may include participation in performance-based incentive programs, such as discretionary or non-discretionary plans.
