Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Lubricants Sales Representative in Baltimore, Maryland. The Lubricants Sales Representative is responsible for soliciting lubricant sales throughout the Carter territory. The Lubricants Sales Representative prospects new customers and services existing customers, builds and maintains these relationships, and exceeds the budgeted objectives. The individual in this role prepares proposals and reviews all new bulk equipment installations prior to installation to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Seeking candidates with Previous lubricant sales/operation, preferred; Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience, preferred.
Requirements for the Lubricants Sales Representative position include:
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision; capable of developing objectives, setting priorities, and implementing ideas in a timely manner.
- Must be able to service existing customers with periodic scheduled visits and effectively prospect potential new customers.
- Must be able to learn and apply technical aspects of the lubricants’ business.
- Must be able to monitor business environment to support and guide management in identifying and addressing business opportunities and challenges.
- Must be able to develop and execute effective action plans and handle customer situations to produce results.
- Must be able to interpret data and make quick decisions.
- Must be capable of effectively negotiating and closing deals.
- Excellent customer satisfaction skills and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Strong PC skills and the ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.
- Must be able to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be well organized and able to handle several tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to quickly evaluate facts and maintain good judgment when making decisions.
- Frequent travel is required – overnight or out of town via car or airplane.
- Clean driving record and a valid driver's license required.
- Must be able to work shifts needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for the Lubricants Sales Representative job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This is a sales position eligible for a base salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000 depending on location and candidate’s skills and experience. The final compensation is negotiable.
