Summary
As the Director, Training and Development, you will report to the Vice President, Safety & Training for LiftOne. You’ll partner with business leaders, HR and other key stakeholders to design, develop and deploy strategies and tactics to address critical organizational and talent needs of our most important asset – our technicians. You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of technical training, sales training for account managers, and our external customer training team.
Essential Functions
- Oversees effective systems and processes targeted at developing LiftOne’s workforce so that Technicians receive required training and skill advancement to enhance employees’ learning, development, growth, productivity, and retention.
- Assesses the organization’s training and development resources, structure, and programs and build the team (internal and external resources) to create the talent for the businesses short and long-term needs (technician focus).
- Expands training through design and delivery of high-quality learning solutions (Instructor-led, Virtual, E-learning & Blended learning) that address technical development needs in the business, including onboarding.
- Leads and implements sales training so that account managers receive training and skill advancement to support sales enablement and growth.
- Responsible for revenue generating customer training relating to material handling operators certification per OSHA/ANSI standards, where applicable.
- Works closely with hiring managers to help identify and develop the pipeline of talent to support the business’s growing technical and sales needs.
- Supports technicians with equipment and component related technical issues as well as tracking and trending as a demand signal for additional training solutions.
- Partner with business leaders to ensure training and development outcomes align with business performance indicators.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of LiftOne’s business and anticipates future learning and development needs based on business realities and organizational shifts, making and implementing recommendations for changes needed.
- Builds and fosters relationships with Hyster/Yale and other OEM vendors while incorporating their inputs into learning solutions, as appropriate.
- Evaluate existing learning solutions for efficiency, effectiveness, and/or for potential leverage and broader usage.
- Identify and implement program improvements, tools and technology to enhance processes for learning execution.
- Assess and define parameters for delivering and measuring learning; continually review opportunities for improvement and establish metrics for success.
- Stay abreast of new trends and tools in learning and development and how to incorporate best practices into LiftOne learning programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organizational Development or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a learning function managing the design, development implementation and assessment of technical learning and development programs.
- Knowledge of the application, operation, repair and function of mechanical systems and equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of sales methods and sales enablement, and/or experience leading sales enablement teams or training.
- At least 3+ years in a leadership role managing direct reports.
- Able to support some travel to locations across the Southeast therefore a current valid driver’s license must be always maintained.
- Excellent verbal, written, storytelling and interpersonal communication, and presentation skills, including comprehension, effective listening, and negotiating skills.
- Functional expertise in assessment, evaluation, and training needs analysis, organization systems, and internal consulting.
- Knowledgeable in Technical and Adult Learning Theory; conducts trend research for best practices.
- Strong negotiation skills and project management experience.
- Skilled at making clear and persuasive presentations. Builds credibility quickly with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work in and manage ambiguity, deal with issues or problems, work independently, drive for results and stay focused to accomplish objectives with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to think strategically and systemically.
- Ability to be flexible, creative and can grasp complex concepts and execute ideas.
- Thorough technical understanding of skill sets by industry.
- Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
- Experience in customer-centric organizations with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
Computer Skills
- Must have a substantive command of technology, MS Office required (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), e-learning design platforms and learning new technologies.
- Experience with Talent Management (Performance Management and Succession Planning) software systems to enhance employee and company performance.
