Position Overview:
The Parts Counter Person is responsible for assisting customers with their parts needs, both over the phone and in person. The role includes managing orders, pulling parts, and performing various warehouse duties as needed. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Parts Orders:
- Process phone and walk-in parts orders, ensuring accurate customer needs are identified.
- Input orders into the system and pull the correct parts from the warehouse.
- Place backorders with vendors and create complete purchase orders.
- Provide timely and accurate support to customers at the counter.
Warehouse Duties:
- Put away stock orders and pull parts for the service department.
- Perform cycle inventory counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Assist the Parts Manager with various tasks as needed.
Additional Tasks:
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and warehouse.
- Prepare for parts inventory and assist with clerical duties (e.g., filing, answering phones).
Job Requirements:
- Ability to operate a forklift or complete forklift certification training.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a company vehicle.
- Proficiency with basic computer programs (Microsoft Excel and Word).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to stay organized and maintain a clean, efficient workspace.
- Willingness to stay current with product knowledge, including new products and improvements.
- Ability to work well with colleagues and management to share ideas and solve problems.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk frequently on uneven terrain and remain standing for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to bend, twist, and raise/lower equipment parts.
- Ability to grasp and manipulate items with hands and extend arms in various directions.
- Involves frequent communication by radio, phone, and in person.
- Must be able to read work tickets, parts books, and computer screens.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed in a warehouse environment with occasional noise and temperature variations.
- Exposure to fumes, odors, and harsh substances may occur.
