The Senior Revamp Commissioning Manager – Natural Gas Compression is responsible for leading commissioning, start-up, shutdown, revamp, and technical support activities for natural gas compression facilities and associated infrastructure. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient commissioning of compression assets, acting as the technical authority and primary interface between projects, operations, maintenance, and OEMs. The position plays a critical role in asset reliability, performance optimization, and lifecycle support.
Duties and responsibilities
Lead commissioning, pre-commissioning, start-up, and performance testing of natural gas compression facilities, including reciprocating compressors, drivers, and auxiliary systems. Document and approve commissioning procedures, start-up sequences, and acceptance criteria for compression packages. Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to HSE standards. Oversee on-site compressor revamp project in conjunction with engineering, project management, technicians, and planners. Provide expert technical support to operations and maintenance teams for compressor performance, reliability, and troubleshooting. Act as the technical authority for compression equipment, including compressors, drivers, lube oil systems, fuel gas systems, and controls. Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for compressor, driver, and auxiliary system failures. Interface with OEMs and service providers on technical issues, warranty claims, upgrades, and upgrades. Document and maintain technical standards, operating philosophies, and best practices for compression assets. Provide commissioning and technical services input during fabrication, detailed engineering, and design reviews to ensure operability, maintainability, and safety. Coordinate closely with engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and contractor teams. Support project managers with commissioning schedules, cost estimates, and progress reporting. Champion a strong HSE culture and ensure compliance with gas industry regulations, company standards, and applicable codes (e.g., API & ASME). Ensure all commissioning and revamp activities comply with environmental, safety, and pipeline regulatory requirements. Ensure completion and approval of commissioning dossiers, test records, punch lists, and system handover documentation. Support operator and maintainer training for new or modified compression equipment. Ensure smooth handover from project execution to customer operations, including readiness reviews and acceptance sign-off. Lead, mentor, and develop commissioning technicians and technical specialists. Capture lessons learned from commissioning, revamps, and operational issues to improve future projects and asset performance. Drive continuous improvement in commissioning methodologies, technical standards, and operational support processes. Technical Oversight: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for Caterpillar (G3500/G3600 series) and Waukesha (VHP/VGF/275GL) engines, as well as Ariel reciprocating compressors. Controls & Systems: Oversee the calibration and testing of engine control systems (ESM/ESM2, ADEM) and PLC-based panel integrations.
QualificationsQualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required 8+ years of experience in engine/compressor commissioning, revamp, mechanical, and technical support of natural gas compression facilities. Strong understanding of compressor performance, vibration, lubrication, engine and fuel gas systems. Experience with OEMs for commissioning, troubleshooting, and upgrade Strong leadership, communication, and management skills.

OEM certifications are highly preferred. Compressor Expertise: Deep understanding of Ariel reciprocating compressors, including cylinder configurations, lubrication systems, and valve maintenance. Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and mechanical blueprints. Software Skills: Proficiency in engine diagnostic software (Cat ET, Waukesha ESP) In-depth knowledge of natural gas compression systems, controls, and auxiliary equipment.
