Summary
The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for supporting all retail sales, merchandising, customer engagement, and administrative activities within a retail store location or assigned branch territory. The Retail Sales Associate leads by example on the retail floor by demonstrating strong Customer Service, Product Knowledge, Sales Engagement, and Professionalism. These duties include, but are not limited to, assisting customers with product selection, maintaining accurate pricing and merchandising displays, supporting point-of-sale transactions, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the retail space is clean, organized, and customer-ready.
The role includes providing support and collaboration with fellow Sales Representatives, Branch personnel, and rental representatives while continuing to strengthen relationships between the Retail team, Outside Sales teams, Rental, Parts and Service departments, and other business disciplines within the dealership. Retail Sales Associate plays a key role in delivering consistent retail experience, driving customer loyalty, identifying sales opportunities, and supporting the overall growth of Carolina Cat’s retail business.
Essential Functions
- Deliver exceptional customer experience for all retail customers
- Grow retail market share and new customer acquisition
- Maintain retail yard and inventory readiness
- Drive attachment and value-add solution sales
- Support financing adoption and customer solution selling
- Maintain accurate documentation and sales funnel management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for walk-in and inbound retail customers
- Provide professional consultation to understand customer job applications and equipment needs
- Recommend equipment, attachments, service solutions, and support products
- Deliver timely and accurate pricing, quotes, and financing options
- Provide equipment demonstrations when required
- Ensure customers receive consistent follow-up throughout the buying process
- Other duties as assigned.
Sales Development & Lead Management
- Generate new business through cold calling, prospecting, and local market engagement
- Manage inbound and outbound leads through CRM and dealership sales systems
- Maintain consistent follow-up cadence through the sales funnel
- Document customer interactions, quotes, and opportunity status
- Support promotional campaigns and retail sales initiatives
- Collaborate with Outside Sales Representatives for account development and customer transitions
Inventory & Yard Management
- Maintain retail yard organization, cleanliness, and product presentation standards
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stocking needs
- Support equipment receiving, staging, and preparation for customer delivery
- Ensure pricing accuracy and retail merchandising consistency
- Coordinate with operations to maintain equipment availability and readiness
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Branch Operations, Rental, Parts, Service, and Machine Sales teams
- Support customer onboarding and ownership experience
- Assist in local marketing events, open houses, and customer engagement activities
- Support dealership retail strategy and store consistency initiatives

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Equipment industry, retail sales, or construction industry experience preferred
- Prior customer-facing or sales experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
