Job Summary
SITECH CAD Technician will be responsible for preparing 3-dimensional surface models, alignments and other related files for use with GPS machine control and surveying systems. Technicians should be familiar with civil CAD applications as well as have fundamental knowledge of land surveying.
Primary Duties
- Prepare CAD surface models utilizing Trimble Business Center software for use with construction stakeout and machine guidance systems
- Calculate volumes using collected survey information from various sources
- Maintain library of feature codes, templates and project files as needed
- Stay trained on the latest features and capabilities of various Trimble applications
- Provide quotes to clients for project specific data requirements
Characteristics / Skills
- Capable of resolving a wide range of technical issues related to 3d data
- Strong problem solving aptitude required and must be very detail oriented.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
- Works with little instruction on day-to-day activities and general instruction on new assignments
Education / Experience
- Proficiency with Trimble, AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, Micro station or comparable CAD software
- Ability to read contour maps, road alignments and cross sections
- Experience in heavy civil construction, road building or commercial site development preferred
- Familiarity with total stations, survey grade GPS or machine control systems such as Trimble, Topcon or Leica a plus
